I fell in love with hiking about six years ago and became obsessed with it about four years ago. Hiking and being outdoors has changed my life. I’ve always loved the outdoors, from the time when I was a little girl, when our family would go camping. We would have camp fires and go exploring through the woods in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Moving to Arizona in 2008, I took my first hike the first week at Thunderbird Mountain. I would hike sporadically over the next few years. Enjoying it as much as my motivation would allow. It really became an obsession after my divorce.

Once I got sober,  I needed an outlet. I called it my serenity.
