Day 97 ~ Phoenix Mountain Preserve Phoenix, AZ

June 30th, 2016 ~ Day 97

Today was another early morning Meetup. We had a group of seven this time. It rained as I was on the way to the trail today, but not a drop while hiking. I love the smell of rain in Arizona.

Parking at the end of 32nd Street South of Shea we hit the trails. I have never hiked in this area before. There are so many more trails for me to explore here. I really can’t wait! It’s a beautiful preserve. Part of the trail happened to be another portion of Trail 100.

We got to see a snake today. I have no idea what kind, but it wasn’t a rattler. It had a coral color in it. Very cool to see a different variety. I never realized there would be more than rattle snakes in Arizona.

Today was my son’s last day of summer school and I was on a time crunch, so I only ended up with half the hike. Our hike leader Rene was gracious enough to accommodate me.

It was a beautiful day out even with the humidity from the rain.
