Day 43 ~ Bright Angel Grand Canyon, AZ

May 6th, 2016 ~ Day 43

Waking up at 3 am to drive to the Grand Canyon, to get on the road by 3:30. It was a rainy drive and I was a little nervous about hiking in the rain, but I continued on.

I made it to the campground where my friends had stayed the night, but didn’t see anyone, so I headed to the bright angel trailhead. I didn’t see anyone there either, so I just started hiking alone. I would never usually do this, but I knew I would eventually run into someone.

It was cold at the top and it was snowing! So awesome! This was a first for me,hiking while snowing. As I headed down it soon ended and began to rain, just a slight drizzle, but enough for me to get my rain gear out. At the mile and a half house, I found Juli. She didn’t find anyone at the trailhead either, so

The views of the canyon are amazing! Even with the overcast skies, the beauty is there. I’m in awe every time I see it.

The rest of our group came along shortly after I met up with Juli. I met Gayle at the three mile house and we hiked to Indian Garden. From there we all decided to go to Plateau Point. On our way there, the sun came out. I have never been here and the views were spectacular! You could see and hear the Colorado River. The color of the water was a beautiful green.

Colorado River!

After enjoying a snack, it was time to head back. I was slow and took many breaks. Not because I was so exhausted, but because I didn’t want to leave. I would stop and just start and the beauty of this amazing magical place! Seven hours after I began my 13 mile hike, it was time to go home.

Join me on my journey of hiking every day for 365 days, to see all that I can see! Never miss out on a post and “like” me on Facebook , check out my videos on YouTube, and for more photos follow me on Flick and Instagram!
